Community Buying as CAS

Volunteer Coordinators

Be a volunteer coordinator and not only help people in your own community to take part in the bulk oil buying scheme, but gain free membership for yourself. We are currently looking for volunteers who can spare a couple of hours each month to become volunteer coordinators for our community oil buying scheme. Coordinators provide the vital link in the scheme, helping people in their community, especially older people and those who do not have access to the internet to take part in the scheme and benefit from lower group oil prices. If there isn’t a coordinator in your village, and you don’t have the time to take on the role of a coordinator, you can still join the scheme and Community Buying at CAS will act as your local coordinator. We already have volunteer coordinators in the following villages:

  • Alpheton
  • Ashfield-cum-Thorpe
  • Bacton & Wyverstone
  • Barrow (for non-email members)
  • Battisford & Combs
  • Brantham
  • Burstall
  • Chediston & Linstead
  • Debenham
  • Dennington
  • Elmsett & Aldham
  • Great Barton
  • Harleston (nr. Stowmarket)
  • Knodishall
  • Mickfield
  • Nedging with Naughton
  • Old Newton (for non-email members)
  • Ringshall
  • Saxtead
  • Stradbroke (for non-email members)
  • Stratford St. Andrew and Farnham
  • Tostock & Woolpit
  • Tuddenham St. Mary
  • Wetheringsett-cum-Brockford

Because members of the scheme can buy twice a month or at less frequent intervals to suit their income; it is a major advantage for those currently on expensive monthly oil top up schemes,  which according to evidence collected, can be as much as 10p a litre more expensive.

We are looking for more local volunteers to help spread the word and coordinate orders in their local communities on a monthly basis.

Volunteers do not have to deal with any money or payments; the role is about talking to local people and passing on the orders.

There is a small annual fee of £20 for each household joining the group oil buying scheme but in appreciation of helping, volunteer coordinators are invited to join for free.

More information on what is involved with being a coordinator is here

If you think you, or some one you know, might be interested in becoming a volunteer coordinator to help people in your community, please do not hesitate to give us a call on 01473 345400 or email

If your village has a coordinator, their contact details and how to order oil will be sent to you once you have joined the scheme. To join please go to
